Minerva’s story began in late 2016 or early 2017, when the husband of one of our longtime employees, Carol, discovered a feral black cat hiding in the warehouse where he worked. The cat couldn’t return to the warehouse after being trapped, so Carol had her spayed and fully vetted. Naturally, she named her Minerva, after one her favorite Professors.

Minerva was very fearful of people and preferred to hide when anyone came near, but she found comfort and companionship with other cats. When we closed our Claiborne warehouse, there was no question—we would bring all the cats who depended on us, including Minerva, to a new safe space.

Since moving into one of our spacious indoor/outdoor catteries, Minerva has truly blossomed. She can still be shy of strangers, but she’s no longer feral. She now enjoys gentle human attention and can often be found hanging out with her feline friends, BB and Clementine. We estimate she’s around 9 or 10 years old.

Minerva holds a special place in our hearts, as she was deeply loved by Carol, who sadly passed away from cancer in August 2019. In honor of Carol, and in recognition of how far Minerva has come, she will live out her life with us in peace and comfort.

Minerva is not available for adoption, but sponsors help ensure she continues to receive the love, care, and safety she deserves.
