Elmie is a 1½-year-old purebred Husky (we did her DNA) with a story that will break your heart—but a spirit that will absolutely steal it. In the early hours of the morning, Elmie was seen being thrown from a car in a neighborhood, desperately trying to chase after the people who abandoned her. The heartbreaking moment was caught on a neighbor’s Ring camera, and thankfully, kind locals stepped in to help.
Understandably, Elmie was scared and shut down during her first week with us. But once she realized she was safe and loved, she blossomed into the playful, affectionate, and quirky Husky she was meant to be. She’s sweet, smart, and full of personality! Everything you’d expect from her breed and more.
Elmie is dog-friendly and adores children. She has a silly, goofy side that shines through during playtime, especially when she’s bouncing around the yard or dipping her toes into water. True to her Husky nature, she’s confident, curious, and occasionally dramatic (in the most charming way possible). No cats for this girl, as she has a typical Husky prey drive and is a bit too interested in smaller animals.
She keeps a tidy crate and is making great progress with her fear of cars. A fear we can only assume stems from her traumatic experience. With love, patience, and continued reassurance, Elmie is learning to trust again and is showing everyone just how incredible and resilient she truly is.
