Meet Dutton, a sweet and affectionate boy who’s as loyal as they come. He’s dog-friendly and absolutely adores people, forming strong bonds and always wanting to be close to his person. Dutton can be a little shy in new environments, so meeting new people in a familiar, secure space works best for him—but he’s made huge strides in this area and has truly made himself at home in the prison program where he’s currently thriving.
Dutton is all about the ball life—Chuckit! balls are his favorite, and he’ll happily play as long as you’re willing. Give him a Jolly Ball and he’ll proudly prance around with it all on his own, especially if you’re nearby to cheer him on. He’s fully crate trained but prefers to sleep outside of his crate, especially when he can curl up near his person. He’s shown no signs of resource guarding with people or dogs and has even been known to share toys and water with his canine friends.
While Dutton is potty trained and knows all of his basic obedience, he does get a little nervous about getting into the car. Once he’s in, though, he travels well. He has excellent recall, though he may take his time coming if he’s caught up in something exciting—especially people. He may also bark a bit on the fence line, just to let everyone know he’s on duty. Cats aren’t a fit for Dutton, but if you’re looking for a loving, loyal companion who lives to make you happy, this sweet boy could be your perfect match.
