Chapel Heart, also known lovingly as Delilah came to us after surviving an absolutely heartbreaking beginning. She was brought to our gates in New Orleans by someone who decided she was “worthless” after a scuffle with another dog. As we listened, it became painfully clear who she really was. Just two weeks earlier, the same man had dumped three puppies at our gates, bragging about how much money their mother had made him… until the puppies got “too big” to be useful. Standing in front of us that day was that very mother. The one he had just called his money maker. The one he discarded without a second thought, after he wanted to breed her…again.
Despite everything she’s endured, Chapel Heart is incredibly gentle.
With the people she trusts, she leans in close, quietly asking for reassurance. New places and new faces can be scary for her, and she may need a little time to feel safe but if you offer patience, kindness, and an understanding of her past, she will slowly let you into her future. She loves walks and finding the perfect patch of grass to stretch out and lay in while she enjoys the sun on her face.
She is soft, tender, and full of love that she’s still learning is safe to give. Chapel Heart deserves a life where she is cherished, protected, and never made to feel disposable again. She deserves the entire world, and we are determined to make sure her next chapter is written with love and understanding.
