NEW ORLEANS
WE NO LONGER HAVE A LOCATION IN NEW ORLEANS.
Due to a lack of donations, we had to close down our New Orleans location.
ASSUMPTION PARISH
Our Assumption Parish location is a beautiful country atmosphere about 1 1/2 hours outside the city of New Orleans. Here on our 13-acre Sanctuary location, we are offering a dog walking volunteer program. We also have play areas where you can sit with a dog to relax and enjoy some cuddle time.
Here are the most commonly asked questions/answers.
- You HAVE to make a reservation ONLY one week prior to your visit. We cannot accept reservations any further out than that due to the extreme weather changes and the possibility of scheduling conflicts. AT THIS TIME, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO HAVE VOLUNTEERS ON SATURDAYS.
- Louisiana weather (especially during the summer) is extremely hot and humid. If you have any physical or medical limitations, this may not be the right program for you. Please make sure you can handle the brutally hot temperatures.
- Volunteering starts at 9 am and ends about noon (give or take) due to the impending heat of the afternoons.
- There are no indoor volunteer experiences available.
- There are no Uber, Taxi or any other public transportation outlets available for the Assumption Parish area.
- The closest store/eatery is a few miles away, so you may want to bring your own drinks/snacks/food.
- You cannot bring any personal dogs with you.
- Please wear proper footwear (no sandals, flip flops, etc)
- For those with children, 5 years and under, you will not be able to participate in the dog walking program, as the route is too long, but we do have other options available for you and the little ones.
- While we know many people come here excited that we are the home of “Pit Bulls & Parolees,” we hope that you are coming here for the dogs. The people from the TV show come and go as they are working but there is no guarantee that any will be at the Sanctuary at any given time.

Thanks so much for your interest and get ready to be “dog-tired.”
