Monarch’s journey with us has been one of resilience, heartbreak, and incredible transformation.

The first time Monarch came to us, he still had both of his eyes — but sadly, it wasn’t long before we saw him again, this time dodging traffic near our New Orleans location, and something was terribly wrong. His eye was completely clouded over, and he was in obvious pain.

We soon learned the devastating truth: neighborhood kids had been shooting him with BB guns and throwing rocks at him. Despite every effort to save his eye, it became clear that the kindest, most compassionate choice was to remove it and relieve him from his constant pain.

Since then, Monarch has blossomed. Losing an eye hasn’t slowed him down one bit — in fact, he’s happier and more spirited than ever. Spoiled is an understatement when it comes to Monarch, and he wouldn’t have it any other way! He’s wonderfully vocal when he wants attention, and not shy about making his needs known.

He loves his toys with a passion and can be a little possessive over them, so he’s looking for a home without small kids. Though he’s a bit hesitant to hop into the car, once he’s settled, he adores feeling the wind on his face as he watches the world go by.

Monarch has survived cruelty and pain, but he has never lost his spark. He’s ready to find a family who will love, spoil, and celebrate him for the incredible soul he is. 🖤👑🐾
