Tia Visits Gwinnett County Jail Dog Program

The first weekend in August, I had the honor of being invited to the Gwinnett County Jail in Georgia. I spent the entire day inside with the inmates and their dogs for the "Jail Dogs" program. Words cannot express how impressed I was at the way these dogs were being handled and trained. The majority of the inmates were better dog handlers than most of the dog trainers I know. And the dogs were brilliant! They had many Pit Bulls and some adorable mutts as well.

While there, I was able to see their newest incoming student….a little blue Pit Bull that had been found in an abandoned house, not able to walk or even pick up his head due to his malnorished state. It was heart wrenching to see but heart warming to know that he is now sleeping in a bed next to his new handler; Kenneth. If any of you would like to write some letters of encouragement, please feel free to write to the facility. Also please view the video link and pass the word on that there are some GREAT and WELL TRAINED dogs available for adoption at the Gwinnett County Jail. And I'm sure that the new blue dog; Brawny Brooks, could use some toys and for that matter so could all of the dogs. We at Villalobos are behind this program 100% and plan on working with them more in the future.
