Profile: When I received the call in the middle of the night to help with
an animal neglect situation, I never imagined that I would've walked into
literally hundreds of dogs living in filth, mud and such cold weather
temperatures, that even my feet felt numb thru my Ugs. I had no idea how
these dogs had survived this long out in the brutal desert of Lancaster.
One of the main rescuers directed to a "large dog that wasn't being
so friendly". He was all the way to the back of the property, in
the dark and tied up. Upon approach he did indeed growl and he was indeed
large. There was no way we could leave him there as he wouldn't last another
night in the storm. Because I don't go to church, I did my best imitation
of "Hail Mary's" and went in. As I tried to fumble thru the
dark to untie the cable, my very nervous "good boy" and "atta
boy's" showed. Just as I got the tie undone, my flashlight glow caught
the glare of his icy blue eyes. I thought, "this is it, do or die".
As he felt the cable loosen from around his neck, I felt his body tense
up and explode.....INTO A RAGE OF KISSES AND HUGS AND HAPPY WHIMPERS!!!!
He knocked me off my feet and the kisses came non-stop. Whoever adopts
this big lug has scored big time. If I weren't already married, he'd be
my new boyfriend.
